BENTONVILLE, Arkansas — Walmart and Sam’s Club are hosting in-person drug disposal events Saturday at select stores and clubs across the country as part of the DEA’s biannual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Law enforcement will be set up in the parking lot of the following Walmart or Sam’s Club locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to assist the public in safely disposing of unused, unused or expired prescription medications.

In Belmont County, a drug disposal will be held at Sam’s Club, located at 50555 Valley Plaza Drive in St. Clairsville.

“These are ways we can do our part to reduce and potentially eliminate the dangerous misuse and abuse of prescription drugs in the communities we serve,” said Lisa Young, senior director of Walmart Specialty Compliance and Ethics. “Safe disposal of medication is important, and we are grateful to the organizations that partner with us in this impactful effort.”

Walmart is also reminding its drugstore customers of additional disposal options throughout the year. In 2020, more than 1,000 pharmacy drug disposal kiosks were installed at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores nationwide.
