COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 11, 2022 ( –
ScriptDrop Inc., a healthcare technology company focused on prescription access, and Roadie, a UPS company and crowd-sourced delivery platform, began their partnership in fall 2020. At the time, ScriptDrop needed a national partner who could enable same-day and urgent delivery in a systematic, secure and scalable manner.

Now, ScriptDrop has moved from manually posting delivery requests on Roadie’s platform to full API integration, allowing both partners to mutually benefit from a streamlined workflow. Thanks in large part to Roadie’s reliable network and pre-screened drivers, ScriptDrop has significantly expanded its delivery footprint in all 50 states over the past 12 months.

ScriptDrop recently announced the release of its annual Prescription Access Report, “Everything Old is New: Social Determinants of Health and the Role of Prescribing in Home Health Care.” This year, the report focuses in part on the social determinants of health (SDH), which are non-medical factors that affect a person’s health. A SDOH is “access to and quality of health care,” which includes a person’s proximity to health facilities and pharmacies.

Unfortunately, more 40% of US counties are considered pharma deserts, or geographic areas without easy access to a pharmacy. Many of them are rural counties. However, the disparity also exists in cities. In urban areas, Black and Latino neighborhoods are much more likely to be drugstore deserts than predominantly white neighborhoods.

Fortunately, Roadie’s extensive local same-day delivery network and expertise in last-mile logistics has enabled ScriptDrop to offer safe and secure same-day delivery to patients, wherever they live. Amanda Epp, CEO of ScriptDrop, said, “70% of patients who use ScriptDrop delivery for their recurring prescriptions never miss a delivery and have their medications on hand every month. Clearly, this partnership with Roadie has helped us begin to overcome negative social determinants. health and improve long-term health outcomes.

Marc Gorlin, CEO of Roadie, said, “When it comes to accessing quality healthcare, your postcode shouldn’t be a barrier to getting what you need. And with ScriptDrop, it’s a path to more equitable communities. We are proud to work with ScriptDrop to expand access to healthcare nationwide.
