AMCP Foundation interns address oncology, evidence gaps and medication adherence in partnership with AbbVie Inc. and Pfizer Inc.
ALEXANDRIA, Va., November 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The AMCP Foundation congratulates student pharmacists who have recently completed immersive internships focused on oncology managed care, health outcomes, nonprofit leadership and evidence, thanks to the generous support of Pfizer Inc. and AbbVie Inc.
The goal of AMCP Foundation internships is to develop future healthcare leaders by exposing students to a wide variety of principles of population health and managed care pharmacy. These competitive internships offer students the opportunity to contribute to challenging and meaningful projects and to interact directly with industry experts, pharmacists and managed care professionals.
As part of the ten-week structured internship programs, student pharmacists embedded at the host sites were paired with virtual preceptors and presented capstone research projects at the recent AMCP Nexus conference. Research topics included the safety and efficacy of biosimilars in the oncology landscape, postoperative atrial fibrillation and renal failure, and methods of measuring medication adherence.
“Practice-based research drives innovation and better understanding of issues, which translates to better health outcomes,” said Paula J. Eichenbrenner, MBA, CAE, CEO of the AMCP Foundation. “We are deeply grateful for the generous support of AbbVie and Pfizer, which enables the AMCP Foundation to train the practitioners of tomorrow in research methodologies, collaboration and business acumen.”
The AMCP Foundation has opened the application cycle for Internship Opportunities 2023. Applications are due January 6, 2023.
